          ENGL 1101 - EnglishComposition I (3-0-3)
        
        
          A composition course focusing on skills required for effective writing in a variety of
        
        
          contexts, with emphasis on exposition, analysis, and argumentation, and also
        
        
          including introductory use of a variety of research skills. [Notes: (1) Learning Support
        
        
          students who are required to take ENGL 0099 and/or READ 0099 must exit the
        
        
          requirement(s) before they can enroll in this course.  (2) A grade of C or better (or K)

          A literature based composition course that develops writing skills beyond the levels of

          A genre, author, and topic-based survey of British literature taught in the context of
        
        
          study abroad in London, England, this course features a survey of cultural experiences
        
        
          based in British literary history, including but not limited to museums visits, tours of
        
        
          historic sites, and attendance at theater performances.  Required readings will
        
        
          incorporate poetry, prose, and drama and may be drawn from the Anglo-Saxon period
        
        
          to the present, including Old English works in translation, Middle English works in the
