LearningSupport Dismissal
Students who fail to complete Learning Support courses in the specified
number of attempts will be dismissed from the University. The following
circumstances are causes for Dismissal:
•
Studentsareallowed amaximum of threeattempts topass theMATH
0097/MATH0099 sequence. However, students are limited toenrolling
in each coursenomore than two times, unlessa thirdattempt atMATH
0097wasapproved after LearningSupport Suspension.
•
Studentswhobegin inMATH0099 or are required to enroll inENGL
0099 or READ0099anddonot exit within twoattemptswill be
dismissed.
•
An attempt inaLearningSupport courseat another UniversitySystem
of Georgia institution shall be counted as anattempt at ClaytonState
University. Studentswhoareadmitted after havingalreadyhad two
unsuccessful attempts in these courses at other universities (or
comparablepre-collegework) shall onlybegiven oneadditional attempt
at ClaytonStateUniversity.
Students who are dismissed for not successfully exitingMATH 0099, ENGL
0099, or READ 0099may appeal for one additional attempt prior to the one-year
dismissal. Appeals are considered only for students who completed the
Academic Success Contract during each semester of enrollment and there is
compelling evidence of a high likelihood of success in the final attempt. Students
who are unsuccessful in this attempt on appeal will be dismissed for one year.
After one calendar year, students in these circumstances must complete an
application for readmission and file a written appeal with the Registrar’s Office.
Appeals will be evaluated by the Readmission Appeals Committee. Students
seeking readmission following Learning Support Dismissal should either
complete all Learning Support requirements elsewhere before reapplying or
show compelling evidence of the ability to exit learning support and earn a
degree. The committee may restrict the enrollment of students who are
readmitted following dismissal.
AcademicHonors
TheHonorsProgram
A limited number of qualified students are admitted to the Clayton State
University Honors Program, which offers special sections of classes and other
activities.
Deans’ List
A student with a semester average of 3.60 or higher with a minimum of nine
credit hours who is in good academic standing will be placed on theDeans’ List
for that semester.
Courses must count toward degree.
Courses with a
Pass/Fail grade are not eligible for theDean’s List. Studentswho are taking any
coursenumbered lower than1000are ineligible for theDeans’ List.
GraduationWithHonors
To qualify for graduation with honors, students must meet the following
requirements:
a. attain theRegents’ GradePoint Average specified for the given level of
honorson
all
work attempted at ClaytonStateUniversity; and
