 VETERANS RESOURCE CENTER
Walk In My Shoes
Few people understand what it is like to serve one’s country. Even less know what it is to have served in the Armed Forces and live with disabilities.
The Veterans Resource Center brought awareness to disabled veterans and provide insight into the life of a wounded warrior. In April of 2017, the VRC partnered with the Disability Resource Center to sponsor
“A Mile in My Shoes.”
Participating students were divided into teams and each team member was assigned a disability. They were tasked with navigating from the VRC to
the challenge course located near the SAC. Once reaching the challenge course they would complete another activity to provide an inside look into boot camp.
The Veterans Resource Center continues to be committed to providing awareness on issues related to Clayton State veterans through meaningful programming and collaborative efforts with offices and departments
on campus.
POINTS OF PRIDE
The VRC assisted in the reorganization of the Student Veterans Association and launch of their marketing campaign.
The Center held two veterans graduation cording ceremonies in 2017 honoring student veterans who were graduating. The spring ceremony was sponsored by the Clayton State University Foundation with funds from the #Give4Dreams campaign.
Five computers and a printer were donated to the Center for student use.
