 COUNSELING AND PSYCHOLOGICAL SERVICES
Be More Mindful
Mindfulness is defined as the mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment. For many students, being able to stay focused between classes, activities, and jobs can
be challenging.
Counseling and Psychological Services began conducting Mindfulness Meditation sessions for students at the Student Activities Center.
POINTS OF PRIDE
Nicole Keating, LCSW, who conducts the sessions with students, reports that students have said that meditation helped them to notice when they are stressed and to better understand their emotions.
They have also mentioned that they use the meditation class to help focus before big tests. Some have said it helps them feel more centered during stress.
CAPS provided students 93 outreach/awareness programs on topics including stress management, sexual assault, depression and suicide, diversity, grief, and general mental health, and wellness.
