need to succeed. The Development Office looks forward to coor- dinating the Fund Drive every year, designing and circulating lapel pins, hosting the hot dog rally, and congratulating the coordinators and their departments.

Is the Fund Drive a yearly success? Are Clayton State’s col- ors blue and orange? According to our peers throughout Georgia, college and university faculty/staff fund-raising efforts are con- sidered huge successes if as many as 75 percent of the institutions’
employees contribute. At Clayton State, the contribu- tion rate has averaged in excess of 95 percent for the past 10 years. That’s commitment!
In development, we are fortunate to spend time with our donors and friends, and campus colleagues as well, sharing information about the opportunities of Clayton State. Student success is at the center of everything that we do. We work closely with the Foundation to ensure that in addition to scholarships, funds are available to recognize those students with high academic achievement, to subsidize study abroad experiences, and to enrich their total academic expe- rience by bringing guest lecturers to campus and a myriad other enhancement initiatives.
We are careful stewards of the monies entrusted to our care. We work closely with the Foundation Board of Trustees and our investment advisors to es- tablish and follow investment and spending policies. We are conscious of our responsibility to donors to en- sure that funds are spent according to direction and their gifts are maximized for the greatest support.
Serving all of our constituent groups – donors, alumni, on-campus colleagues, volunteers and, cer- tainly students – affords us the opportunity to grow professionally and to continuously advance the Uni- versity; a mandate that the Development Office is well-equipped to perform since our five-member team has a combined 56 years of experience in working to advance Clayton State, and the dreams of all of its people.
