Bachelor of Science inLegal Studies
The purpose of the Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies is to prepare
graduates for a career in the legal field. Thedegree is a good option for students
who plan to work in fields impacted by law and legal regulation or who are
considering law school or other fields of graduate study. The Legal Studies
Program emphasizes substantive legal knowledge, excellent reading, writing,
and critical thinking skills, technology and other practical skills, an understanding
of government systems, and an appreciation of the myriad of ethics rules that
govern the legal profession. Graduates will also acquire the specific law office
skills necessary to perform delegated substantive legal work under the
supervision of an attorney. Paralegals and other non-lawyers are prohibited from
practicing law.
