Bachelor of Arts in Film Production Approved for Fall Semester Rollout
The Board of Regents (BOR) of the University System of Georgia approved a Bachelor of Arts degree in Film Production at the BOR’s May 2015 meeting, adding another aspect to work- force development in the State of Georgia’s hottest industry. According to Dr. Susan Tusing, chair of the Department of Visual and Perform- ing Arts (VPA) in the College of Arts & Sci- ences, “We have many students inquiring about film and media production, and the production classes in our Communications and Media Stud- ies program have been enormously popular. We anticipate the B.A. in Film Production to be a significant program in our department and at Clayton State, and to be a major contributor to the future of the film industry in Georgia. We ex- pect the graduates of this program to make an enormous impact on the field in and beyond Georgia.”
The Dance Ensemble’s presentation, “Recrudescence: A Rebirth of Dance” in Spivey Hall in March marked the introduction of the Clayton State University Dance Ensemble to the community, and the reintroduc- tion/rebirth of dance at Clayton State. “Most people don’t know we are now dancing at Clayton State, and we are!” says Katie Marie Kelly, assis- tant professor of musical theatre and dance at Clayton State. “However, what most people truly don't know is that dance was present on the Clay- ton State campus since the University began. So, after 26 years of inactiv- ity, we are dancing again and with a formal dance minor program.”
