Ludley Ready for
The Open Door
Clayton State University is reluctantly saying good-bye to one of its iconic faculty members, writer and artist, Professor of English and Art History Dr. David Ludley, who is retiring after 36 years.
“I love teaching, and I’ve had 36 years of it here at Clayton State,” he says. “I now look forward to having time to finally focus on what talents I have in painting and in writing. I have a few novels and several poems under development. It’s time to pursue some other things I love: writing, painting, hiking, travel- ing, maybe even flying in a yellow biplane! It’s an open door. And I can’t wait to see what’s on the other side.”

Environmental Toxicology
Students Visit Atlanta EPA Office
Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Jacqueline Jordan recently led her Environmental Toxicology students to, if not a major toxicological site, a major superfund site in downtown Atlanta. The students were invited to visit the United State Environmental Protection Agency in Atlanta, the office being a major superfund site that controls said activities for all the Southeastern United States.
“This office sets limits for exposure to air pollution, pesticides, solvents, metals, etc.,” explains Jordan. “They also respond to environmental disasters in all the South- eastern states.”
The Clayton State students discussed air and water pollution in Atlanta with sev- eral EPA officials, and met with the emergency response personnel to understand how they train and respond to chemical spills, explo-
sions, oil spills, etc.
