Corrado and Dadpay Participate in
WXIA-TV Presidential Debate Truth Test Watch Group
Dean Ogbuehi to Step Down as of January 1
Clayton State University professors Dr.
Joseph Corrado and Dr. Ali Dadpay were
more than interested observers in the Oct.
16 presidential debate; they were partici-
pants in WXIA-TV’s Presidential Debate
Truth Test Watch Group.
Corrado, an assistant professor of
Political Science in the College of Arts &
Sciences, and Dadpay, assistant dean,
MBA director and assistant professor of
Economics in the College of Business,
visited the WXIA studios in Atlanta as a
part of a group of experts from different
fields and universities who were invited to
truth test the candidates’ comments made
in the debate as the debate happens.
The debate, airing from Hofstra
University, was in a town meeting format
and included both foreign and domestic
policy, subjects that both Clayton State
professors are well-versed on.
Corrado is the
Clayton State cam-
pus coordinator for
the
American
Democracy Project,
directs
the
University’s
on-
going New York
Times Talk program,
and also directs
Clayton State’s annu-
al observation of
Constitution Week,
which this year
brought in Georgia
Attorney General
Samuel Olens and
former
Governor
Roy Barnes to speak.
A native of Iran,
Dadpay is an expert
on the economic affairs of the Middle East
and North Africa. He often writes in
Persian-speaking media in Tehran on eco-
nomic affairs, the effects of sanctions and
other things related to the global develop-
ment process. He also is an expert in
strategic Interactions between govern-
ments and private sectors in global and
multinational markets, and the economic
evolution of societies.
Both professors were a big hit with
WXIA, so much so that they were both
invited back in the same role for the Oct.
22 presidential debate.
Provost and Vice
President
for
Academic Affairs
Dr. Micheal Crafton
has announced with
“a complex array of
emotions,”
that
Dean Dr. Alphonso
Ogbuehi has decid-
ed to resign as dean
of the College of
Business, effective at end of the fall term.
“I understand the difficulty of this deci-
sion, and having moved myself in and out
of administrative positions myself for a
variety of reasons, I also understand that
these decisions are very particular, very
specific, to the time and person,” says
Crafton.
Ogbuehi’s new role will include teaching
and research, as well as working on spe-
cific and focused assignments in external
affairs and international arenas.
Ogbuehi arrived at Clayton State in July
2010, bringing extensive knowledge and
experience, gained from scholarship and
from leadership involvement with many
educational organizations. His involve-
ment with education extends to more than
20 years with multiple honors and awards
for high performance in the many respon-
sibilities where he has served. Most
notably, he has extensive experience in
building international programs and insti-
tutional relationships and external devel-
opment.
Ogbuehi was previously the dean for the
School of Business for Park University in
Parkville, Mo. His long association with
higher education began at the University
of Kentucky, where Ogbuehi earned his
B.S. His M.B.A., with a concentration in
Marketing, was also earned at the
University of Kentucky. His D.B.A. with
a major in Marketing, and minors in
Transportation and Sociology, was com-
pleted at the University of Memphis.
Ogbuehi has also served as director of the
M.S. in International Marketing Program
at the Erivan K. Haub School of Business
at Saint Joseph’s University in
Philadelphia from August 1996 to August
2001, and as a tenured professor of
Marketing at Bryant University, from
2001 to 2007. He was also a professor of
Marketing at Illinois State University
(1987-1994) and at Christopher Newport
University (1994-1996).
“We will develop a plan for an interim
dean, a search committee for a permanent
dean, and a plan for the transition in the
coming days,” adds Crafton. “I conclude
with my own public note of thanks to
Dean Ogbuehi for his service and his
future endeavors which I feel certain will
amaze and profit us all very much.”
