Minor in InformationTechnology
The Information Technology minor will help to prepare students for careers
in business and the sciences where a deeper understanding of Information
Technology would provide a benefit beyond the normal coursework in their
major. To fulfill a minor in Information Technology, students must complete 18
semester hours of coursework with at least nine semester hours in the upper
division. Courses taken to satisfy core areas A through Emay not be counted as
coursework in the InformationTechnologyminor. ITFN4700AppliedResearch in
Information Technology is required and allows students to map and direct their
information technology skills to their chosenmajor. All courses and prerequisites
must bepassedwithagradeof ‘C’ or better.

The online Georgia Bachelor of Science in Information Technology degree
program (GeorgiaWebBSIT) is offered collaboratively by five University System
of Georgia (USG) institutions: Armstrong Atlantic StateUniversity; Clayton State
University; Georgia Southern University; Columbus StateCollege, and Southern
Polytechnic State University. The program is offered primarily at a distance via
USG’s centrally supported coursemanagement system. Possible exceptions to
fully online delivery would be aminimum number of proctored experiences (such
as labs or exams) related to the nature of the course and by approval of the
GeorgiaWebBSITExecutiveDirector.
The Georgia WebBSIT program has two primary purposes. The first
purpose is to produce IT graduates with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to
meet the needs of Georgia employers. IT graduates use computer software and
hardware tools and applications to develop, support, andmanage the technology
infrastructurewithinorganizations.
Graduates of theGeorgiaWebBSITwill beable to:

Useand apply current ITdiscipline-related conceptsandpractices.

Identify and analyze organizational and individual problems or
opportunities in the IT realm and define requirements for addressing
themwhen an IT solution is appropriate.
