CAMPUS REVIEW
“All of the professors I have worked with in the
MALS program have been very helpful answering
questions about graduate school, getting into a
Ph.D. program, publications, conferences, and
other matters of importance to academic dreamers
like me.”
As noted, dreams come in all shapes, sizes and
forms. If you’re into sports, there’s no dream bigger
than a national championship. Following the
2010/2011 women’s basketball season, Clayton State
had no less than 13 of those dreams fulfilled – and
that was just among the players on the 35-1 women’s
basketball team that won the NCAA Division II national
title with a convincing 69-50 win over Michigan Tech.
Clayton State dominated the NCAA tournament
that year, winning six straight games by an average
of 21 points. The most dominant of those 13 play-
ers… forward Teshymia Tillman, who was named
the MVP of the Elite Eight, concluding what was pos-
sibly the best career ever for a Clayton State
women’s basketball player.
Following the national title, Tillman signed a
two-year contract with the Ros Casares professional
club in Valencia, Spain.
“We are so excited for Teshymia,” said head
women’s basketball coach Dennis Cox, himself a
pretty successful dreamer, when his star went pro.
“She has worked hard for this opportunity, and we
are all proud that one of our own will have the op-
portunity to play in such a prestigious league in Eu-
rope. I know this will be the beginning of a life-long
dream for her, and I am confident that she will go
over there and represent us well.”
It should come as no surprise to anyone who
has attended Clayton State that these dreamers
have been assisted in having their dreams fulfilled
by members of the Clayton State faculty and staff…
