Celebrating Dental Hygiene Awareness Day
With the Tooth Fairy and
A Very Large Tube of Toothpaste

The Clayton State University Department
of Dental Hygiene recently celebrated
Dental Hygiene Awareness Day and the
centennial of the Dental Hygiene profes-
sion.
Not wishing to underplay the importance
of the occasion, Dental Hygiene
Department Chair Dr. Gail Barnes pulled
out all the stops to make the 2013 Dental
Hygiene Awareness Day a success…
enlisting the help of the Tooth Fairy and a
very large tube of toothpaste to also help
mark the celebration of 100 years of the
Dental Hygiene profession with games,
free popcorn, festive fun and free dental
hygiene information.
Word has it that the Tooth Fairy was actu-
ally Clayton State Dental Hygiene major
Vy Nguyen, while fellow Dental Hygiene
major Alicia Findley played the role of the
toothpaste. Both Clayton State students
are from Stockbridge, Ga., clearly a loca-
tion with a lot of clean teeth.
According to Barnes, the weather for
Dental Hygiene Awareness Day was
extraordinary as the Department’s Dental
Hygiene Games took place on the Clayton
State Quad. Everyone who attended the
event received a bag of dental products
and those who participated in the dental
hygiene games won additional dental
products.
“A very popular prize was the one liter
bottles of Listerine mouthwash,” adds
Barnes. “Participants left with oral health
supplies and helpful tips on how to take
care of their teeth and gums. For those
who were unable to attend the festivities,
you can get started on your healthy smile
by calling the Clayton State University
Dental Hygiene Clinic at 678-466-4920 to
schedule an appointment.”
