Two years removed from an All-
American hoops season at Clayton State
University, former Laker Brandon
Robinson is making a name for himself in
the professional ranks. Earlier last week,
Robinson was signed by the Halifax
Rainmen of Canada’s National Basketball
League (NBL) after finishing last year as
the league’s top scorer and being named
the All-Star MVP in the league. A 6-foot-
5, 185 lb. guard, he led all scorers in NBL
Canada last season, averaging 19.9 points
per game.

The Clayton State women’s soccer team
came up big Wednesday, winning its third
straight match against a quality Peach
Belt Conference opponent. The Lakers
won 2-0 at Laker Field behind two goals
from their leading scorer and All-Peach
Belt Conference forward Natalia
Valentine. The Clayton State men’s soccer
surrendered two first half goals and was
unable to catch up Wednesday, falling 2-0
to Montevallo. Montevallo scored its first
goal 13 minutes in the match on a penalty
kick by forward Pierre Omanga, his Peach
Belt Conference eight of the season. The
Falcons struck again in the 34th minute,
as midfielder Jackson Tolleson slightly
nicked a deflected shot off Clayton State
keeper Sean Merfeld that found the back
of the net. The Lakers held solid for the
remainder of the match but were unable to
muster any offense against Montevallo,
which ranks as the top defensive club in
the Peach Belt Conference.
