Better than the
Sword of Shan-Yu

According to Disney (and maybe a
few others as well), just having his
daughter Mulan come back home
was better for her father, Fa Zhou,
than the gifts she brought to honor
the family.
Former Trivia Time champion
Kelly Adams had the first correct
answer, “The greatest gift and honor
. . . is having you for a daughter.”
Two other former champions, Rob
Taylor and Kurt-Alexander Zeller,
also had the answer.
For this issue, and coming under the
heading, “Only in England,” who is
still has a day celebrated in his
honor in the U.K. for his failed plot
to blow up Parliament and the
King? (Seriously)
Stop the presses, as they used to say in the
old newspaper days. There were four
“Twirling Professors,” not three in the
2003 Homeconing Parade.
Yes, as already noted, Drs. Moore, Cathie
Aust and Lisa Eichelberger were there.
But so was Dr. Catherine “Kitty” Deering,
as she noted in an email to the editor
recently…
“After reading your trivia column in the
latest issue of the Campus Review I feel
duty-bound to correct you. Along with
Benita Moore, Cathie Aust, and Lisa
Eichelberger I was one of the twirling pro-
fessors who performed in the Clayton
State Homecoming Parade. In addition to
marching in the parade, we actually had a
whole routine worked out to the tune of
"Horse." We performed it for the platform
party, much to the puzzlement of John
Kohler, who was a Dean at the time.
“I do forgive your oversight. This is not
something that I routinely include on my
curriculum vitae.”
Let’s give five bonus Trivia Points to Dr.
Deering for pointing this out, and another
five points to Heidi Benford, for digging
up these photos.
Editor’s Note: the other individuals pic-
tured herein have asked not to be identi-
fied, not even if their names were changed
to protect the innocent.
“What a better thing for us to send than a
pillowcase with `Dreams Made Real’ for
them to use in their rooms at Laker Hall,”
asks Momayezi, noting that incoming
freshman at Clayton State live in the five-
year old Laker Hall residence hall. “And,
I don’t have to worry about sizes! It’s lit-
erally a `case’ of one size fits all.”
The “Dreams Made Real” pillowcases are
mailed to all admitted freshmen 10 days
after they’ve been admitted to Clayton
State. Also included with the pillowcase is
a handy checklist on things that admitted
students need to do before their first day
of class. And, thus far, the pillowcases
appear to be a hit, they’re already appear-
ing on Instagram.
Momayezi expects to be doing a lot of
traffic in pillow cases over the next three
weeks – Clayton State’s application and
document deadline for the fall 2013
semester is Monday, July 15, 2013.
