Alumni Relations
Clayton State alumni and friends, mark
your calendar … the Alumni Association
will be hosting a fun, social networking
event for you. The Alumni Association
will be sponsoring a "Monday Mixer" on
Monday, June 18 at Skyboxx Restaurant
and Bar in Morrow. The Mixers are casu-
al, free from admission (you just pay for
what you order), and without agenda. In
other words, come enjoy yourself, bring a
friend, relax and network with other alum-
ni and friends of Clayton State. Skyboxx
Restaurant and Bar is located at 2180 Mt.
Zion Pkwy., in Morrow (located next to
Country Inn & Suites). To RSVP, please

The Clayton State University Alumni
Association will look to hit a grand slam
once again at its 20th Annual Alumni
Dinner. Next fall, the Alumni Association
will hold its annual event at the 755 Club
located at Turner Field. The Annual
Dinner will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22.
All Clayton State alumni, faculty/staff,
students and friends of the University are
invited to the event. The dinner portion of
the event will begin at 7 p.m., preceded by
a reception; starting at 6:15 p.m.
Attendees will also have the opportunity
to take a special tour of Turner Field,
which includes a behind-the-scenes look
in the Atlanta Braves clubhouse. In con-
junction with the dinner, the Alumni
Association will also recognize its 2012
Distinguished Alumni Award winners and
hold a benefit auction.

Thomas University Athletic Director
Mike Lee has announced the hiring of
Stephen Cox as head men’s basketball
coach. Cox will lead the Night Hawks as
they return to TU as an intercollegiate
sport for the first time since the 2000-01
school year. TU men’s basketball program
will open play in the fall of 2013. Most
recently, Cox was an assistant coach at
Georgia Southwestern University. The
native of Peachtree City holds a Bachelors
of Business Administration & Marketing
from Clayton State.
Center for Supply Chain Management
The Center for Supply Chain
Management at Clayton State University
is having its “coming out” party on
Wednesday, May 30 with a seminar on
“Strategic Information to Help Run Your
Business.” The seminar will run from 8
a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the ballroom of the
Clayton State Student Activities Center. A
total of 80 invitees are expected to attend.
External Relations
A retirement reception will be held for
Vice President of External Relations
Brigadier General (Ret.) Robert L.
“Steve” Stephens on Friday, June 22, at 10
a.m. in room 101 of the Harry S. Downs

International Programs
May is World Trade Month in the United
States, and the metro Atlanta recognition
of that event was held in the World Trade
Center Atlanta on May 23 with the Atlanta
Export Symposium: “Breaking Down
Barriers to Exporting.” Clayton State
Director of International Programs and
Trade Center Atlanta President John
Parkerson gave the opening remarks at the
symposium.
International Student Association
Since two of the International Student
Association (ISA) officers are graduating,
ISA is ready to hold the elections for the
new officers. The nominations and the
elections will be through an online survey
to make things easier. To nominate your-
self for president, vice president, treasur-
er, secretary, or web developer, please fill
out your name in the survey by May 31 at

all Clayton State students, regardless of
nationality or immigration status.
SBDC
A free Small Business Financing
Workshop will be sponsored by the
Clayton State University Small Business
Development Center (SBDC) and the
Clayton County Chamber of Commerce
on Tuesday, June 19, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
in the Harry S. Downs Center. Among the
subjects to be discussed are; commercial
loans, personal loans, SBA loans, lines of
credit, A/R financing, credit cards, and

Spivey Hall
Spivey Hall has extended the registration
deadline for its 2012 Summer Music
Camp. The camp will run from Monday,
June 11 through Friday, June 15, from
9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., each day. While
the regular registration has been extended
to Friday, June 1, parents can still register
their students after that date, but for an
increased fee. All information on registra-
tion and the Summer Music Camp can be

Does your Department/Division
Need a Student Assistant?
The Planning and Budget Council has
again allocated $150,000 for the
Undergraduate Student Assistant
Funding Initiative. This initiative is one
of many University retention efforts.
Forms and Guidelines were sent elec-
tronically to each department on May
25. Departments or divisions interested
in receiving some of these funds must
submit a Request Form to Scott
McElroy by June 15. Additional Forms
and Guidelines may be obtained from
ScottMcElroy@clayton.edu.
Departments that received funding
through this initiative previously must
submit a 2012/2013 Request Form and
will not
automatically have their fund-
ing renewed.
