Class on “The Euro Crisis Revisited"
Ogbuehi to Deliver Distinguished
Visiting Professor Lecture in Nigeria

Dr. Alphonso Ogbuehi, dean of
the College of Business at
Clayton State University, has
been selected to give the
Distinguished
Visiting
Professor Lecture at the
University of Nigeria’s Nsukka
Alvan Ikoku College in June.
Ogbuehi’s lecture will be titled,
"Higher Education Investment
as a Catalyst for Economic
Development and Wealth
Creation in Developing Countries" In
addition to presenting the Distinguished
Visiting Professor Lecture,
Ogbuehil will be participating
in series of meetings and work-
shops as part of a program that
culminates with the lecture on
June 28.
“I am truly honored by this
recognition and look forward
to my lecture on higher educa-
tion as a catalyst for economic
development and wealth cre-
ation in developing countries,”
says Ogbuehi, himself a native of Nigeria.
”The University of Nigeria Nsukka is one
of the most prestigious universities in
Africa.”
Included among the audience members at
Ogbuehi’s lecture will be leaders from the
state government, civic community, aca-
demics from several universities in the
area, and students.
Ogbuehi also believes that his trip will
afford Clayton State opportunities to
explore collaborations to boost foreign
student enrollment from Nigeria.
Parkerson Plays
Role in American Nigerian
International Chamber of
Commerce Trade and
Investment Forum
John Parkerson, director of the Office of
International Programs at Clayton State
University, played a major role in last
week’s Trade and Investment Forum host-
ed by the American Nigerian International
Chamber of Commerce.
The forum was held on Thursday, May 10
and Friday, May 11, at the Sheraton
Atlanta, 800 Hammond Dr., Atlanta, and
supported by the Nigerian Consulate
Atlanta, the U.S. Embassy Commercial
Services in Nigeria, the U.S Commercial
Services in the United States, the Atlanta
Council on International Relations, and
the World Trade Center Atlanta.
Parkerson, who is also an assistant profes-
sor of business in the College of Business
at Clayton State, appeared in his role as
the president of World Trade Center
Atlanta, and gave the welcoming address
on Thursday, and participated in a panel
discussion on “How to do Business in
Nigeria” on Friday. The panel discussion
included the forum’s keynote speaker,
Ambassador Geoffrey Teneilabe, the
Nigerian Consul General in Atlanta.
The Consul of Greece, Dr. Vassilios
Gouloussis, recently visited a College of
Business class at Clayton State University
to lecture on "The Euro Crisis Revisited."
Gouloussis made his presentation to
Associate Professor of Marketing Dr.
George Nakos' International Business
class. His visit to Clayton State was
arranged by Clayton State Director of the
Office of International Programs John
Parkerson, through his connections with
the local consular corps. Parkerson is the
honorary consul for Hungary for the
Southeastern United States.
