According to Demmitt, the delegation
asked some excellent questions about
accreditation processes, the relationship
between the business community and the
University, and the process for developing
new degree programs.
The delegation then took a tour of the
Clayton State campus, led by Cele Blair,
assistant director of the Clayton State
Office of International Programs.
Joining Mr. Sun on the visit to Clayton
State were: Mr. Tang Zhenfu, Deputy
Division Chief, Division of Cross-Border
Education Partnerships, Department of
International Cooperation and Exchanges,
MOE; Ms. Xie Lili, Deputy President,
School of Urban Development and
Environmental Engineering, Shanghai
Second Polytechnic University; Mr. Chen
Fuxue, Deputy Director, Office of
Disciplinary Development, Shanghai
University; Zhu Zhanfeng, President,
School of Economics and Management,
Ningbo University of Technology; Mr. Xu
Leiting, Deputy President, Medical
School of Ningbo University; Ms. Yang
Wei, Deputy President, Zhejiang Fashion
Institute of Technology; Mr. Zheng
Weidong, Deputy President, Ningbo
Polytechnic; Ms. Liu Xiaomei, Deputy
President, Renmin University of China,
Suzhou Campus; and Ms. Fan Zhonglin,
Program Assistant, China Education
Association for International Exchange.
Following their visit to Clayton State, the
delegation spent the afternoon at the
Atlanta headquarters of the University
System of Georgia, and then visited the
Georgia Tech campus on Friday.
The National Committee on United
States-China Relations has worked with
the Chinese Ministry of Education and the
U.S. Department of Education for more
than 30 years in the implementation of an
MOU signed by the two government
agencies in the early 1980s.
